Valencia

July 2022

My friend, Megan, and I spent a weekend in Valencia

Anyone who travels knows that there is a wall you hit at some point where exhaustion takes over. For Megan and I, Valencia was our wall. Valencia is only a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Barcelona, but we opted to take the train since neither Megan nor I had a car. Additionally, being the broke travelers we were, we also opted to take the cheapest option. This was a mistake... what should have been a four hour train ride turned into six painful hours. The train was so crowded that we had to stand for the first two hours. Then, the train had a malfunction in the middle of nowhere on hour four, and everyone had to exit the train and board a new one. We never truly knew what happened or why since Duolingo doesn't have a unit on train mechanic vocabulary. This whole experience drained us, and we did our best to get through the weekend. Exhaustion aside, Valencia is a beautiful city. We could explore some of the historical buildings and learn about the city's history. Valencia also had a ton of beautiful parks and beaches that were fun to wander through. While visiting the Central Market, I ordered a serving of pesto lasagna, one of my weekend highlights. Although it was a long weekend, I'm so glad I had the chance to explore this city and spend quality time with Megan.
